PLAIN-LANGUAGE PRIVACY SUMMARY
Locked means controlled, not impossible to copy.
Private chains are excluded from search indexing and the public directory. Public chains may appear on the open board, but their locked photos do not. Anyone who opens a chain can see its progress, creator nickname, and member nicknames.
What we store
We store the locked photo, creator and member nicknames, chain relationships, numbered positions, timestamps, safety confirmations, reports, public-chain ratings, moderation outcomes, and creator strikes. Hashed network and browser identifiers are used for abuse prevention and duplicate handling, not cross-site tracking.
Public-chain identity
Publishing or taking a spot in a public chain requires ChatGPT sign-in. Top40 stores a one-way account identifier derived from the authenticated email so one account cannot take multiple places in the same chain. For creators, we also store a display name, reputation totals, and strike status. The raw email is not stored in public-chain records.
Automated image inspection
Public photos and their creator nickname and category are sent to OpenAI’s moderation service before publication and may be sent again after member reports. Private-chain photos are not sent for automated inspection in this release. Top40 does not use face recognition, identify people, or infer sensitive traits from a photo.
Who sees what
The creator can view and delete the photo from a high-entropy private control-room link. Before the chain reaches forty, the photo bytes are never included in chain pages, the public board, browser state, or public API responses. After a successful unlock, only browsers holding one of the forty private member tickets can request the photo.
Expiry and deletion
A failed chain closes after 24 hours and its photo becomes inaccessible. A successful reveal remains available to members for 24 hours after unlock. Photos are removed during expiry cleanup. The creator can immediately delete the entire chain and photo at any time from the private control room.
Screenshots
Top40 can control access to the stored photo, but it cannot prevent a member from taking a screenshot or photographing their screen. We disclose this before creators upload and before participants join.
